If you haven't experienced it yet, Twitter is an online application that allows you to post what you are doing right now — from your computer or your phone. Think of Twitter as a sort of lightweight blog — a simple presence indicator. It's really not important to know your best friend is hitting Subway for lunch, it just feels good being reminded of their presence in your life.
Equally, when you're cruising down the road with the windows down and the sun beaming (hello Spring), it's nice being able to let all your friends know that life is good and they're on your mind. Both creating and receiving "tweets" is incredibly streamlined and unobtrusive, making Twitter a truly enjoyable technology — it's about easily sharing thoughts amongst friends...and who doesn't love that? |
